How are a journal's Q values found?
A journal's Q value briefly, represents the 25% segments that result from dividing the total number of journals in a field by four. The top 25% segment takes the Q1 value, while the last 25% segment takes the Q4 value. This, the second 25% segment takes the Q2, and the third 25% segment takes the Q3 value.
How is the impact factor determined?
The impact factor of a journal is directly proportional to the number of citations received by articles published in that journal. It is calculated by dividing the number of articles cited in the past two years in the journal by the total number of articles published in the same two years.
